Your own samples stay in this browser. Short one-shots work best.
Chords are built only from the notes of the current raga or scale, so they never clash with it.

Freeze cloud stretches a slice into a shimmering pad that holds for the step length. Stutter repeats the start of a slice inside the step.

Voice lab
Record with your phone's voice memo app (or WhatsApp), then bring the file in here, or drag it onto any box below. Your voice stays in this browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Add a recording
A hum, a sung line, a whistle, a beatbox, claps or any sound you make. Record it here or bring in a voice memo, trim it, and say what it is. You can listen before anything goes into your song. Recordings stay on this phone.
Notes plays them the way they will sound in the song. Both plays your recording with the notes Jamori heard, at your own speed.
Hear it over your beat first. Put it on VOX when you like it: it replaces this song's vocal, and the old one stays in your library.
Sound library
Every recording and sound you import, kept on this phone. Use any of them on any track: as a drum, as an instrument you play higher and lower, or as your vocal. Each song remembers which sounds it uses. Only use sounds you made or have the rights to.
On iPhone, add Jamori to your home screen (Share, then Add to Home Screen) so Safari keeps your sounds.
Find my range
Sing from your lowest comfortable note to your highest, slowly. Jamori measures your range and suggests a key that suits your voice.
Your vocal track
No vocal yet. Import a phrase, a verse or a few words; it is cut into slices on the VOX track.
Lyrics
One line per bar. While the music plays, the current line lights up, so you can rehearse a verse over the beat.
Mix & mutes
Tap a name to mute it. Tap S to solo: only soloed tracks play. Solo is for listening; it is not saved and exports ignore it.

Patterns
Tap a letter to add it to what is playing and edit it, so A can hold the beat while you record a melody into B. Tap a playing letter to edit it; tap the one you are editing again to take it out. Hold a letter (or Shift-click) to play only that pattern. Changes land on the next bar. With Sketch on, a tap only changes what you edit; tap again to add it.
Song
A track is built from parts: each plays some of your patterns (A, B, C…) for a number of bars. Name each part's job: Intro, Groove, Build, Drop, Breakdown, Outro. A lead-in is the last bars of a part, leading into the next: ↗ Riser, ⋮ Roll, ◢ Sweep, ‖ Cut, ✸ Impact, ↘ Downlifter, ◀ Reverse, and ★ the ones you make in FX maker. Tap a part in the strip above to jump there. Dance music moves in blocks of 4, 8 and 16 bars, so changes land where listeners expect them.
FX maker
Make your own transition sound and save it. It then shows up as a lead-in effect, next to Riser and Impact, in every part of your song.
Audio file
WAV is full quality, for editing or a DAW. MP3 is about a tenth of the size, for sending and posting. It records in real time, so you hear it as it goes.
Records everything you hear, live pads, mutes and effects included, then offers the file to save.
A square video of your music with the pads lighting up, ready for WhatsApp, Instagram or TikTok.
For a DAW: Ableton, FL Studio, Logic
MIDI: the notes of the drums, bass, lead and keys, at your tempo, for Ableton, FL Studio, Logic or GarageBand. Stems: one WAV per track plus the reverb and delay, recorded in real time, so you hear it while it records.
Your beat as code
The same beat written in the notation of Strudel, a live-coding language. Show it on a wall while you play, or paste it into strudel.cc and keep going in code.
Can I use it commercially?
Your music is yours. What you compose and record in Jamori belongs to you, and you can use it in reels, videos, podcasts, ads and brand work, free or paid. You are responsible for what you publish.
Sounds made in code (every synth, the built-in drum kit, tabla, sitar, the world instruments and effects) are free to use with no credit.
Drum machine kits (LinnDrum LM-2, TR-505, CR-78, Rhythm King) are marked public domain in the open-source collection Jamori takes them from, so no credit is needed. The Reel option "Only sounds you can use freely" sticks to these and the code-made sounds.
Two sampled sets need a credit line if your track uses them: the Pearl acoustic kit ("Pearl Master Studio Pack 1" by enoe, CC BY 3.0) and the piano, steel guitar and strings (FluidR3 GM by Frank Wen, CC BY 3.0). For example: "Piano: FluidR3 GM by Frank Wen, CC BY 3.0."
Melodies. The famous tunes in the lessons are old enough to be public domain. If you play someone else's song that is still protected, the melody belongs to its writers, wherever the sound came from.
This is a plain summary, not legal advice.
